Society & It's Needs

I posted this on my tumblr but i think i need to elaborate more as to cross reference with what i've read and the views from friends.

“To aid a family(in need) with children that are still schooling,is not only via financial aid, but also educating the children to really do well in their studies. Get scholarships, bursaries, ask for help from the Government aid such as Mendaki and etc. The only change one can really make is effort to have a better living and be educated. Giving money or vouchers won’t do any change. But with education you will. Imam Syafi’i said, ‘Tidak ada orang yang mencari ilmu yang disertai dengan kemalasan; dan kekayaan menjadikan seseorang beruntung, namun keberuntungan itu akan melekat dalam diri orang yang senantiasa mencari ilmu dengan disertai semangat yang tinggi dan prihatin serta bersanding selalu dengan Ulama’. Alhamdulillah, I’ve seen with my own eyes, people who are in financial aid, the childrens really need to step up and wake up. It’s educating time.

No parents would like their children to follow their footsteps. All parents would like their children to be better than them. What they really need is to see the importance of learning. Push aside those thoughts, ‘I learnt all this but doesn't apply in my daily lifestyle’ even I said that too. But I realized something in my thoughts, how arrogant could I be. Didn't the one who created all this calculations and whatever we are learning derives from The One Book? It may not be beneficial to you as you set your thoughts to think that way. But it may be beneficial to others cos they see the purpose of learning all that. It’s time to step up on the learning point”

1) I believe that community has to be educate especially Malay/Muslim community. Why? Most of us still thinks that education is just about having to grasp the degree and throwing mortar boards on graduation ceremonies. Having moral and religious study are one of the basic fundamentals that a human being needs. In order to be human, you have to have etiquette moral and most of all religion.

I'm talking about the Malay/Muslims in Singapore. Not having religious background can destroy a human basic lifestyle. Drinking, gambling and partying destroys a person's nature of having to obey God rules and simply avoiding to become kind to human being and searching for 'Ilm or knowledge. 'ilm can't sit inside a person's body that filled with filth and sins. You can just see how many people that gambles and drinks behaviours. How many of them are the researchers of knowledge? Get yourself right then you can do things right.

2) Get help from Mendaki loans, scholarships, LBKM/ Community Centre bursaries are one of the ways and treated as tools to get to the highest peak. Mostly, Malay/Muslim Singaporeans are not that wealthy, they are middle income families because of their "many kids" that they have to handle and calculating according to the household per capita is insufficient. Governments and Muslims aids are a lot but its the matter of are you eligible or not.

But not contributing back to the community is such a pity. Some even feel that they can hardly help the lower and uneducated because they are pretty preoccupied with their top level job and family commitment. At least by teaching tuition or do community work is enough. Don't waste your youthful years by doing what youth loves to do. It's not that I ban not to love what youths do. I do love what I am doing but at least, you can have something better, getting rewards for your good deeds and make change to your own community. Don't be arrogant! That motar board that you raised is from the money that the community contributes to you. The smallest thing that you can do is to donate back to the groups that have helped you through out the journey of doing having a degree.

3) Searching for knowledge and not a certificate per se. It is hard to practice it in the real world but all I can say is that renew your intentions again and again why you doing this, why you studying this and don't forget to pray every time that Allah will provide you an easy path to get what you want.

Then, have the drive of to seek for knowledge. Knowledge doesn't stop where you left school. It is beyond that because the world is too large for you to even know everything. Be mesmerized by His creation and put your thinking cap and learn more. Learn how to be street smart, learn about animals, other people cultures, learn about stars, the galaxy, learn how to fly kite or even parasailing. As long as it benefits you and make you think and relate everything back to Him, insyaAllah it is just alright.
