My FET Journey

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم Assalamualaikum everyone. How are you all doing? As we entered our 6th years anniversary, I would like to share with you my FET journey a.k.a. my IVF 1.1. Many of you were wondering, where is my latest post of my new IVF cycle? FET or frozen egg transfer was way easier for me because I don't need to do as many scans as before, no injections needed and I can just plan when I wanted to do it. Alhamdulillah my second round of transfer, which is my first frozen transfer was smooth and totally different from the first one. I have decided to use up all my frozen embryos (2 in total) that I had and tawakkal alaAllah. One was BB grade (same as my first cycle) and one was grade 2.  I prepared more this time around by eating more healthy, exercise and being active, I even went to TCM (4 out of 6 times of the package that I took). I find that this round was better because there weren't injections. Only oral tablets and only 1 scan. I really love this arrangement a

Review of Thomson Medical - TCM Fertility Treatments

Bismillah. I know some of you have been waiting for this review for the longest time from my previous blog post. We will do backstory a bit before I share my experience.  I wanted to prepare my body for the second IVF because it is frustrating that we have invested so much money and time for this. So I am putting 110% effort such as reducing my weight, eating healthy and preparing my body. I knew that my body wasn't in the best shape after the first round with bloatedness and gaining weight. Moreover, I have a "cold" womb because of my cold legs. To prepare the body and the eggs, they will need me to attend at least 3 months in order to see results. Before I started TCM, I went for a whole-body massage (Malay style) at SpaJelita. To be frank, the massage did not make me feel better, just like someone pressing on my sore muscles, that's all. Last time they had a ginger massage but I think they scrapped it. I was looking into the option of going to Raffles Hospital (jus

Total cost for our first IVF procedure

It is $15.6k in total. This is the most expensive bill I ever received so far. I got a shock of my life with all the procedure's charges. This is the total bill and what you saw on top is the IVF transfer day itself, I opted ICSI instead of the natural including the storing and freezing of the 2 embryos. Your receipt may be different pricing of what are the things you opt for. The rest of the medication was under my name of $2462 (I paid forward with my own money). So, after government funding of $7700, Medisave of $5000 (because I used my first cycle for IUI), an adjustment from the hospital, I had to pay $2624 on my own in total. Alhmadulillah for the heavily subsidized and funded by the government. I am so blessed. Now we will just wait for the next review to start our new cycle. The next round will be lesser the bill because I have 2 frozen embryos in the fridge, just doing the frozen egg transfer (FET) while suppressing the body from not ovulating and create the correct amoun

First IVF journey at SGH

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم BACKSTORY We got the not-so-strong positive test before our IVF programme (11 -13 Jul) but on 16 -18 Jul, I checked again, it got fainter and I got my period on Saturday, 18 Jul. It was sad because if not, I don't have to continue with my IVF journey. I didn't tell A earlier about the double line is because I wanted to surprise him and my dad for their birthday but it turns out it backfired me instead. Told A about it on my period day and he was confused, puzzled, surprised and sad at the same time. Overwhelmed with the information like oh, we are pregnant but you got your period? So what does that mean? Do we finally get a success and then it didn't happened? Is it early miscarriage? I called SGH on Saturday (18 Jul) to check when I could come down to collect the injections. They asked me to come on Monday morning (20 Jul), took a blood test and collected Ganirelix (Orgalutran) to stop from premature ovulation.  The injection is stinging compared to

PCO, TTC and Chemically Pregnant!

Image
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم As my previous post stated, I've already started my IVF journey. What happened before our IVF is trippy. Let's get to know more about PCO and my TTC journey.  Before my IVF cycle My body was feeling weird  that is not how normally what I will experience nearing my period. I blamed Letrozole because it gets me too gassy and bloated. And sometimes I have tender breast and feeling nauseous nearing my period. I checked the pregnancy test on my 10 DPO and it was negative, I was okay. Not sad but still hopeful. I watched Youtube channels on TTC, PCO and pregnant and some of them telling the experience and symptoms they had. I was curious and I checked again on 13 DPO cycle day 27 (was supposed to wait for 14 but I was too excited) and saw the finest line. I was so happy but i kept quiet about it. I am so shocked and thankful towards Allah for answering my prayers. It was surreal. I kept on coming back to my drawer and look at it again and again. Is it real? I w

Road to IVF

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ I am going to update you guys on my IVF journey BUT before that, here are the important things your need to know: If you are Singaporean, you are entitled of the government grant of both IUI and IVF procedures that they called it ART (artificial reproductive treatment). Currently only 3 government hospitals are running ART: SGH, NUH and KKH.  You can also use your medisave for the balance payment, thus you don't need to fork out or save so much. Yes, I did have that concern before that IVF costs $10 - $15k but don't worry, you can use medisave up to $6k on your  first treatment.  On top of all these, you need to be married and tried for at least 1 year, the better if you have any complications like endometriosis, polyps, irregular menses. So here's the breakdown from Jan 2020: So you see, we don't really encourage to go private as you may have to fork out more but if you go for comfort and speedy treatment and have lots of saving, yo

IVF - things you need to know

Things you need to know about IVF There's a lot of needles and poking you need to do on your own If you think that IUI is invasive, IVF is more invasive in a sense that had to do a day surgery to take out the eggs and cultivate them.  Money will always be the factor The trips that you have to make to the hospital and then to work Emotional! Get yourselves ready man. I told myself and prepared myself that I may need to undergo 3 cycles for it to happen because of my PCOS but I am happy if I can get my first shot successful The 3 months before IVF: Doctors will all of us to go naturally with medicinal assistance. Letrozole or Clomid and asking you to lose weight to get higher chances of getting pregnant naturally. For my case, I wasted my 3 months and only lose 1.5kg, I started revamped my diet, eating healthily, exercising and basically taking care of myself more.  If you are someone who is overweight like me, try to lose 5kg or more during this 3 months and more towards your IVF fo

Letrozole VS Clomid

I consider myself as an extrovert becoming an introvert as I aged. I like sharing to my IG viewers something that they could beneficial that they can learn but at times, some things seems very complicated and private, especially having both family members from my side as well as A's following me on Instagram. So I have to resort to here I guess. Or maybe when I am successful with my TTC journey, I could share with my followers (step mana nye instafamous je). For those of you who are new with my blog and wanting to know more about IUI, IVF and infertility, welcome! I know most of us are clueless and need some support system to understand all these things going one. Ala kulli hal. I am trying my best to explain to you what are the procedures and steps that you can prepare yourself before starting this journey. My GP (Women's clinic) encouraged every newlyweds who are trying and can't seemed to get pregnant within a year, get yourself checked. I went to her in 201

TTC - back at it again!

Updates on my baby journey. It is almost a year that we are TTC. I remembered that I went to polyclinic to get my referral letter in December and only saw my first gynea appointment in Feb as I was late for my appointment in January. Fast forward to today, I just finished my first round of Clomid and the results was that I am not ovulating. I had to take blood test on 21st day to know whether my progesterone is present. The reason I am not ovulating is that I have a very irregular menses and the ovulation dates varies. For other people who have PCOS, endometriosis or others, you reason and causes may differ. You really have to understand your body situation and why things didn't happen. Here are some terms that you need to know in order to figure out what causing late menses or no ovulation. Estrogen (in the female reproductive system) In low concentration, estrogen inhibin LH secretion. The higher the estrogen, the lower the FSH produced during menses. But when in hig
